A Zin-filled weekend, BottleHood has been invited by the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance during Saturday night’s Zin Tasting and Wine Country Auction. Tumblers, vases, light fixtures, votives, cheese trays, condiment bowls and pendant beads will all be on display, as well as BottleHood’s donation toward the auction.

We’re coming up on another North Park Nights this Saturday, and to celebrate some more local art, we’ll be featuring beautiful, recycled glassware from Steve at BottleHood as well as other recycled art in the form of Leslie’s Proverbial Printz. BottleHood collects used beer, wine and liquor bottles from local restaurants and turns them into tumblers and vases. So you could be enjoying glowing candlelight from a bottle that you once drank wine out of during a previous visit to the bistro! This is just another great example of a local business helping to reduce waste, and even keep recyclables out of the process to begin with.

We work glass as if it’s a gem stone, and finish it like a piece of jewelry. We do not use kilns, or high energy equipment.

Getting bottles ready for the La Jolla Farmers Market

were forced to suffer with the smells of garlic and roasting flesh all morning! One of our neighboring vendors, a holistic healer, bought a vase for her flower arrangement right off the bat. It was one of our new extra large vases made from a Yellowtail Cabernet from Australia! Lots of ooos and ahhs and we’re looking forward to the beginning of the gift buying season in La Jolla. There was also an Open House going on lower Girard and our vases are being displayed at Adelaide’s Florist just down the street. The big winner was Leslie with a single sale of 18 of her nearly famous digital prints. The team at Bottlehood firmly believes in incorporating the triple bottom line (environmental protection, economic development, and social equity) and the goal of sustainability into its business operations.   This can be seen throughout our operation, and will continue to be our main priority as we grow in the future.

BottleHood was created out of a passion to help our environment, create local jobs and stimulate our local retail economy. The company was founded by a couple of folks in San Diego who took their concerns for the environment and the local economy and decided to “do” something about it.

BottleHood has taken a stand on keeping bottles which have no California Redemption Value (CRV) out of California’s landfills or sent overseas to be recycled. In the process, BottleHood produces a line of uniquely handcrafted tumblers and vases made from bottles whose contents were enjoyed in our neighborhood. We hire local craftspeople, who also share our concerns for the environment and the local economy, to produce our line of glassware.

BottleHood is just really all about our neighborhood; helping extend the life of discarded glass, creating jobs and stimulating our local economy. Its simple, BottleHood is good for our neighborhood!
